On 6 of July, the first assembly of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace (IPTP) was organized in Malta. The meeting was established by the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP).
Deputy of Parliament of Poland Paweł Skutecki was the only representative of Polish government at this newly created organization, which is an enormous achievement for our two years of work, based on implementing objectives prepared by Jaromir Latuszyński – President of the Intercultural Amber Route Foundation (ICAR).
IPTP assembly was attended by 54 deputies from around the world, mostly from Africa and South America. Paweł Skutecki participated at the assembly thanks to a personal invitation by Ahmed bin Mohammad Al-Jarwan (United Arab Emirates Sunni Chief of Global Council for Tolerance and Peace). Mr. Ahmad bin Mohammad has acquired considerable knowledge about our work in Poland through Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue along with Polish-Arabic Cultural and Economical Club (PACEC). Paweł Skutecki was the only parliament member from Europe besides Portuguese, Swede, Macedonian and Ukrainian.
“Five Executive Committees have been created, and I was appointed to Sustainable Development Committee Presidium, along with Gina Michele Sanze as a chairman” – said the Deputy of Pan-African Parliament from the Central African Republic.
Everyone from PACEC and ICAR should be proud because, thanks to their effort, they have become the main force in Polish Parliament, offering expertise in dialogue at several committees and groups present there.
The main objective of the establishment of an international parliament among the organs of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace is that membership in this international parliament composed of members of parliamentarians from national parliaments will provide unique opportunities for assorting the cooperation and exchange of ideas and experiences to reach common convictions on many national and international issues facing international peace, such as terrorism, extremism, violence, religious, ethnic, sectarian and racial strife. Hence the importance of developing international cooperation between parliaments of different countries because their role is no longer limited to delivering the voice of their constituencies on a national level only, but they are called upon to deliver the voices of their people at the international level and to make them heard by the whole world, with emphasis on respect for the national sovereignty and the privacy and independence of each country.
