From 10 till 17 September 2017 in Poland stayed a delegation of the Member of Parliament of the Republic of Iraq. Seven of Iraqi Member of Parliament came to our country at the invitation of the Sejm authorities, deputy Paweł Skutecki and Przemysław Skrzypek, the President of the Polish-Arabic Social and Cultural Club.
The deputies represented various political, religious and ethical fractions and were headed by Abdulbari Fares Al-Zebary, the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Commission, representative of Kurdistan Patriotic Union and Sameerah Jaafar Ali Al-Musawi, Chairwoman of the Parliamentary Polish-Iraqi Friendship Group. The seven person delegation included also Hoshyar Abdullah Fattah, member of the Commission of Safety and Defence, Jumaah Diwan Sultan Al-Behadili, decision maker in the Commission of Integrity, Louis Karo Bandar, Vice-chairman of the Parliamentary Polish-Iraqi Friendship Group and member of the Foreign Affairs Commission, Abbas Khudhair Abbas Anbori, advisor in the Foreign Affairs Commission, Bilal Talib Hashoosh Al-Ruwayyidh, the Secretary of the Polish-Iraqi Friendship Group.
The Delegated were accompanied by the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Warsaw Assad Sultan Abu Gulal.
On Sunday after the delegates’ arrival, the PACEC Members of the Board had an official dinner in the premises of the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq and after that they went to visit the Museum of Warsaw Uprising.
On Monday and Tuesday the delegates took part in a number of meetings, including meetings in the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Ministry of Defence, the Central Anticorruption Bureau and also meeting with the members of parliamentary commissions of Foreign Affairs, Internal Affairs and Administration and Defence. The tight agenda included also a meeting with Stanisław Karczewski, the Speaker of the Senate and Stanisław Tyszka, Vice-Marshal of the Sejm.
On Tuesday the delegation participated in the session of the Parliamentary Group for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue. Apart from the Polish and Iraqi Members of Parliament, in the session took part also representatives of the diplomatic corpus accredited in Warsaw, officials of the central administration and the media representatives.
Ms Sameerah Ali Al-Musawi in a moving speech described the situation of Iraqi women and the civilians, victims of terror of the self-declared Islamic state (Daesh), currently displaced from the last parts of the occupied territories of Iraq. Jaromir Łatuszyński, an expert from the Parliamentary group, read a paper devoted to a social function of territory defence units with reference to the characteristics of the Iraqi People’s Mobilisation Forces.
An exhibition opened in the foyer of the Polish Sejm titled “Iraq, With hand we fight with terrorism and extremism, with hand let’s spread love and peace in the homeland” was devoted to the subject of fighting with terrorism.
The third day of the stay in Warsaw finished off with an official dinner hosted by the Deputy Paweł Skutecki.
The Polish side ensured the Iraqis about their will to support those regions of the state which were destroyed by Daesh rebel. The Iraqi deputies expressed their requests for diplomatic support at the international arena. They urged for creation of the Polish-Iraqi Friendship Group in the Polish Parliament and also for rising the position of the Polish diplomatic post in Baghdad.
