The mission agenda in Lebanon we prepared included, among others meetings: with HE General Michel Aoun, President of the Republic of Lebanon; HE Saad Hariri, Prime Minister of the Republic of Lebanon; HE Nabih Berri, head of parliament and HE Gebran Bassil, Minister of Foreign Affairs (leader of the Free Patriotic Movement).
In addition to the constitutional authorities, we met with the heads of the leading political forces and parliamentary factions of Lebanon (including Mr. Muhammad Raad, head of the Shiite parliamentary group Hezbollah; Mr. Samir Geagea, head of the Christian party Lebanese Forces; and colleagues of the Prime Minister of the Sunni faction), heads economic institutions and organizations, and leading Lebanese entrepreneurs (bankers, developers, investors and traders).
This was the third mission of the PAKSG-PACEC association to Lebanon this year. March 12 this year together with deputy Paweł Skutecki, we had the opportunity to meet HE for the first time with the President of the Republic of Lebanon, General Michel Aoun. In a friendly conversation, the president emphasized the Lebanese memory of the pilgrimage of St. John Paul II to Lebanon in 1997. Among the official meetings of the then agenda, we also talked to the leader of the parliamentary faction Hezbollah Mr. Mohammad Raad, Minister of Justice Mr. Salim Jean Jreissati and HE Cardinal Bechara Boutros Rai. On the agenda of contacts with NGOs, we had, among others pleasure to talk with Ms. Joelle Abou Farhat Rizkallah, head of the Women in Front association.
The resumption of direct flights between Warsaw and Beirut is key to intensifying economic exchange. To this end, we met with Mr. Sayed Kambarji, LOT representative in Lebanon. We hope that we have added (plus interventions and motions from the parliamentary position in Poland) a small brick to resume these connections, announced in November this year. (despite the negative lobbying of a large proportion of active commentators, some of the tycoons on the Polish media market). As part of the mission agenda, we also visited the IDAL government agency for international cooperation, where we talked about the prospects of possible cooperation in the area of investment, in the MENA region and in Poland.
